Abstract

The European Quality of Life Survey (EQLS) represents a unique attempt to explore quality of life in a wide range of countries. It is a major source of information, highlighting the social and economic policy challenges facing the EU following the two recent rounds of enlargement. The survey paints a unique picture of the social situation in the enlarged Union, a picture that includes both objective and subjective elements. The main results of the second EQLS will be published in spring 2009, followed by a series of more detailed reports around key policy themes.
