Event background
Exhibition - EU Agencies: The way ahead, 31 January - 3 February 2011, Brussels, Belgium
Venue: European Parliament, Brussels, third floor of the ASP building

European agencies have been set up in successive waves since the mid 1970s and today form an important part of the EU’s institutional landscape. Responding to needs identified by the EU and its Member States, they perform a variety of legal, technical and scientific tasks across a broad range of policy areas. Eurofound's role is to contribute to the planning and design of better living and working conditions in Europe by providing expertise to the EU institutions, social partners and member state governments.
At the upcoming exhibition at the European Parliament, the agencies will present in four thematic clusters how they work together on a broad range of policy issues: Transport and satellite infrastucture; Education, business and innovation; Freedom, justice and security; and Health, safety and environment.
The EU agencies, including Eurofound, supporting 'Education, Business and Innovation' for growth and jobs are at the core of Europe’s 2020 strategy to achieve smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. Each EU agency has a part to play in making sure that the EU achieves the targets of Europe’s 2020 strategy. Working with European organisations, researchers and industry, the EU agencies can help the European Union's drive to create more jobs, improve lives and strive for a better, multilingual society.
