31 May 2012 - 2 June 2012
Event background
Europe in Action 2012, 31 May - 2 June, Brussels, Belgium
Venue: Thon Hotel, Brussels, Belgium
Objectives and themes
As part of the series of annual Europe in Action conferences, ANAHM/NVHVG organises together with Inclusion Europe a conference on work opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities. The event will provide self-advocates, family members, professionals, and their organisations from all over Europe with a platform to exchange current policies and practices with a wide range of stakeholders.
Work and employment opportunities for European citizens with intellectual disabilities are crucial for their full inclusion in society. On the basis of the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities, inclusive employment opportunities and policies have been developed and provide service providers, policy-makers and other stakeholders with examples of good practice.
The conference will focus on four main thematic strands that will allow the more than 300 participants from all over Europe to discuss and engage with newest ideas in the field:
Welfare and employment: the road to inclusive policies
Designing and implementing inclusive employment services
'Fit for our work’: Training and support needs of people with intellectual disabilities
Examples of good practice of work for people with intellectual disabilities
Eurofound contribution
Eurofound will contribute to the event during Plenary 3 on 1 June – ‘Active inclusion of young people with disabilities: Results of a European study’.
