Event background
Mutual learning tools for more family-friendly policies and better childcare provision, 28 November 2007, Brussels, Belgium
Venue: Crowne Plaza Hotel, Rue Gineste 3 (Métro Rogier), Brussels.
Background
This seminar is organised jointly by the European Commission, the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, Dublin, and the OECD.
Objectives
In its communication of 10 May 2007 on Promoting solidarity between the generations, the European Commission explained how it intends to support the European Alliance for Families launched by the Spring European Council in March. This Alliance is meant to be a platform for the exchange of experiences concerning family-friendly policies and practices in the Member States. The Commission therefore announced that it will invite the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions to set up an observatory of best family policy and practices and that it will cooperate with the OECD on the development of the OECD’s family database.
The seminar will be an opportunity to bring together the members of the Commission’s high level group of government experts on demographic issues and various other stakeholders to discuss the potential of these complementary tools for the exchange of information.
