Objectives
The conference is organised by the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operaton and Development), the European Youth Forum and the Youth Employment Consortium. It provides a unique opportunity for youth organisations to engage in a high-level debate with European policy makers on their vision for the future of young people and the labour market.
Eurofound contribution
Eurofound will contribute to the session 'The economic crisis and its impact on the future of young people'. The presention by Juan Menéndez-Valdés is based on a short report to be published by 19 December.
This session will look into both the financial and social costs of the high levels of youth unemployment and how this has affected the lives of young people. These costs can not only be measured in economic terms but are also reflected in the new life patterns of young people. This session will ask questions about the future and how to achieve inclusive and job rich growth in our societies while giving back autonomy to young people in their life choices.
