Balancen mellem arbejde og privatliv betegner en tilfredsstillende ligevægt mellem den enkeltes arbejde og privatliv. At give arbejdstagerne mulighed for en bedre balance mellem arbejde og privatliv gennem hele deres levetid har været et politisk mål for EU i mange år, eftersom det er af central betydning for at sikre, at arbejdet er bæredygtigt for alle.

Den 26. april 2017 lancerede Kommissionen pakken med den europæiske søjle for sociale rettigheder. Den omfatter et initiativ til at understøtte balancen mellem arbejde og privatliv for forældre og omsorgspersoner. Initiativet sigter mod at afhjælpe kvinders underrepræsentation på arbejdsmarkedet, og man skitserer en række nye eller forbedrede minimumsstandarder for barselsorlov og plejeorlov.

Dataindsamling

Eurofounds europæiske livskvalitetsundersøgelser (EQLS) indeholder sammenligninger mellem landene vedrørende foreningen af arbejde og privatliv, fleksible arbejdstidsordninger og levering af plejetjenester af høj kvalitet. De europæiske virksomhedsundersøgelser (ECS) indeholder data om, hvorfor og hvordan virksomhederne anvender en lang række forskellige arbejdstidsordninger. Den europæiske undersøgelse af arbejdsvilkår (EWCS) kigger på tilrettelæggelsen af arbejdstiden rundt om i EU og spørgsmål i denne forbindelse, inklusive fleksible ordninger, præferencer vedrørende arbejdstid og balancen mellem arbejde og privatliv.

Det Europæiske Observatorium for Arbejdslivet (EurWORK) leverer oplysninger om arbejdsvilkår og bæredygtigt arbejde, herunder en database om lønninger, arbejdstid og kollektive tvister. Eurofound har ligeledes fremsat skøn over de økonomiske og sociale omkostninger ved de kønsbestemte beskæftigelsesforskelle og kan tilbyde oplysninger om skabelse af beskæftigelsesmuligheder inden for plejetjenester.

Tema: Foundation Focus om løsninger vedrørende balancen mellem arbejde og privatliv

23. december 2016 – I denne udgave af Foundation Focus ses der nærmere på balancen mellem arbejde og privatliv og nogle af de faktorer, der fremmer eller hindrer arbejdstagernes mulighed for at kombinere deres arbejde med tilværelsen uden for arbejdet. Eftersom den gennemsnitlige arbejdstid er faldet støt, stiller man spørgsmålet om, hvorvidt balancen mellem arbejde og privatliv stadig har betydning. Hvordan kan arbejdstidsdirektivet hjælpe, og hvilken rolle spiller politikker for fleksibel arbejdstid? Hvilke former for specifik støtte er der brug for til personer med plejeansvar for børn eller voksne? Balancen mellem arbejde og privatliv hænger sammen med andre aspekter af tilværelsen, herunder behovet for børnepasning af høj kvalitet, en løsning på kønsbestemte beskæftigelsesforskelle og muligheder for ældre arbejdstagere, der ikke kan fortsætte med at arbejde på fuld tid.
