During the recent years of post-pandemic recovery and increasing labour shortages, the ERM showed that considerably more jobs were being created in the EU, compared to the number of jobs destroyed.
According to the latest updates to the ERM data, the net change in employment due to large restructuring events is declining – tending towards more jobs disappearing compared to the number of jobs being created. The future policies would benefit from understanding the types of restructuring that underpin the current trends in employment.
The current use and potential future application of the ERM data are discussed in three sessions:
Offshoring or reshoring: evidence on and analysis of company location strategies
Restructuring and the twin transition – general trends and sector-specific impacts
Analysing restructuring in the future: Methods and applied research
