Abstract
Bien que les enquêtes eurobaromètre de 2006 et 2010 montrent un changement relativement limité du taux de participation au volontariat, de récentes études menées par Eurofound indiquent une tendance à la hausse générale dans de nombreux États membres. La croissance du volontariat ces 10 dernières années est en partie attribuée aux initiatives publiques visant à promouvoir le volontariat, au nombre croissant d’associations volontaires (ce qui traduit peut-être une prise de conscience des problèmes sociaux et environnementaux) et aux besoins croissants de services sociaux publics. La tendance à la hausse peut refléter une participation croissante des seniors et une perception du volontariat par le public plus positive, en particulier dans certains des nouveaux États membres.
