L’équilibre entre vie professionnelle et vie privée désigne un état satisfaisant de conciliation entre la vie professionnelle et la vie privée d’une personne. Favoriser un meilleur équilibre entre vie professionnelle et vie privée pour les travailleurs tout au long de la vie est, depuis de nombreuses années, un objectif politique de l’UE, étant donné qu’il est essentiel pour garantir la viabilité du travail pour tous.

EU context

Le 26 avril 2017, la Commission a présenté le socle européen des droits sociaux, qui comprend une initiative visant à assurer un équilibre entre vie professionnelle et vie privée des parents et aidants. L’initiative a pour objet de remédier à la sous-représentation des femmes sur le marché du travail et expose un certain nombre de normes minimales nouvelles ou améliorées applicables au congé parental, au congé de paternité et au congé des aidants.

Les enquêtes européennes sur la qualité de vie (EQLS) d’Eurofound établissent des comparaisons entre les pays sur la conciliation entre vie professionnelle et vie familiale, les régimes de travail flexibles et la fourniture de services de prise en charge de qualité. Les enquêtes sur les entreprises en Europe (ECS) fournissent des données sur les raisons pour lesquelles les entreprises utilisent un large éventail de régimes de travail et sur la manière dont elles le font. Les enquêtes européennes sur les conditions de travail (EWCS) analysent l’aménagement du temps de travail dans toute l’UE et les questions y afférentes, y compris les régimes de travail flexibles, les préférences en matière de temps de travail et l’équilibre entre vie professionnelle et vie privée.

L’Observatoire européen de la vie active (EurWORK) fournit des informations sur les conditions de travail et le travail durable, y compris une base de données sur les salaires, le temps de travail et les conflits entre les travailleurs et leurs employeurs. Eurofound a également évalué les coûts socio-économiques de l’écart du taux d’emploi entre les femmes et les hommes et peut offrir des informations sur la création d’emplois dans le secteur des services de prise en charge.

23 décembre 2016 – Ce numéro de Foundation Focus se penche sur l’équilibre entre vie professionnelle et vie privée et sur certains des facteurs qui aident, ou au contraire gênent, les travailleurs pour ce qui est de concilier vie professionnelle et non professionnelle. Étant donné la diminution progressive du temps de travail moyen, il pose la question de savoir si l’équilibre entre la vie professionnelle et la vie privée a encore de l’importance. En quoi la directive sur le temps de travail peut-elle apporter une aide, et quel est le rôle des politiques en matière de flexibilité du temps de travail? De quels soutiens spécifiques les personnes ayant des enfants ou des adultes à leur charge ont-elles besoin? L’équilibre entre la vie professionnelle et la vie privée est lié à d’autres aspects de la vie, et notamment à la nécessité d’une garde d’enfants de grande qualité, à la suppression de l’écart du taux d’emploi entre les femmes et les hommes et à la prévision de dispositions concernant les travailleurs âgés qui ne peuvent continuer à travailler à temps plein.
