14th international symposium on public sector management

Objectives

SRH Hochschule Berlin is hosting the _14th international symposium on public sector managemen_t on its campus in Dresden from 3rd to 5th July 2014. The conference will focus on 'Public governance for public services'.

Public services are currently provided through a wide range of partnerships, collaborations and formal or informal networks between private (for-profit and non-profit) and public partners.

The conference will explore the aspect of efficiency and effectiveness in public governance initiatives, the implications for (local) democracy and the idea of a multi-stakeholder involvement.

Participants will look at new kinds of public governance mechanisms to achieve comprehensive integration of all social groups and at how traditional hierarchical top-down command or contracting structures could be replaced by participatory democratic decision-making structures involving all stakeholders.

Eurofound contribution

Hans Dubois, Research Officer at Eurofound’s Living Conditions and Quality of Life Unit, will present the project on Impacts of the crisis on access to healthcare services.
