Industrial change and EU enlargement: prospects and effects in cross-border regions

Joint EMCC / CCMI workshop, Bratislava, 17-18 October 2005

The workshop is jointly organised by the European Monitoring Centre on Change (EMCC) and the Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI) of the European Economic and Social Committee.

The key objectives of the workshop are twofold: firstly, it will examine the changed conditions for companies operating in the 'Centrope' region covering parts of Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Secondly, based on the presentation of company case studies it will analyse how companies adapted to these changes and explore the consequences of this adaptation process. The workshop focuses on the automobile industry (including both end producers and suppliers) and the transport sector (including both rail and road services).
