Event background

Tuesday 7 November 2006 from 12h30 – 14h00

Renaissance Hotel, Rue du Parnasse, 19

B-1050 Brussels

To present the first findings of its Fourth European Working Conditions Survey, the European Foundation will hold a lunchtime event at the Renaissance Hotel in Brussels.

The Survey provides a unique insight into the views of 30,000 workers from 31 countries across Europe on their current conditions of work and employment. Drawn from real-life experiences, the Survey highlights the considerable differences that can exist in conditions between Member States, sectors and countries.

For most Europeans, work plays a significant role in their lives in terms of job content, working hours and pay. Understanding the conditions under which Europeans are working across the different EU countries is therefore central to achieving improved quality of work, greater productivity and ultimately increased employment – the so-called Lisbon objectives.
