This seminar took place in the Swedish region of Gothenburg and Trollhättan on 25 May 2016.
For two days, about 40 participants coming from 15 European regions met to discuss how policy designers and people implementing those policies can best approach the redevelopment of a region that has experienced a large plant closure in the manufacturing sector. Various aspects of regional initiatives following such a major restructuring have been presented as illustrative examples, and interactive sessions gave the opportunity to discuss and exchange good practices.
The Regional Industrial Policy Seminars are part of the pilot project The Future of Manufacturing in Europe, an EU-financed project which has been delegated to Eurofound. The aim of these seminars is to investigate the role of regional actors and policies promoting employment in light of the very significant economic and technological challenges and opportunities for manufacturing in Europe.
