EU context

Komissio käynnisti 26. huhtikuuta 2017 Euroopan sosiaalisten oikeuksien pilaria koskevan paketin. Siihen kuuluu aloite vanhempien ja omaisiaan hoitavien työ- ja yksityiselämän tasapainottamisen tukemiseksi. Aloitteen tarkoituksena on keskittyä naisten aliedustukseen työmarkkinoilla, ja siinä esitetään uusia tai paranneltuja vähimmäisstandardeja vanhempain-, isyys- ja omaishoitovapaille.

Eurofoundin Euroopan elämänlaatututkimus (EQLS) tarjoaa vertailutietoja eri maiden työ- ja perhe-elämän yhteensovittamisesta, joustavista työaikajärjestelyistä ja laadukkaiden hoitopalvelujen tarjoamisesta. Euroopan yritystutkimus (ECS) tarjoaa tietoja siitä, miksi ja miten yritykset hyödyntävät erilaisia työaikajärjestelyjä. Euroopan työolotutkimuksessa (EWCS) tarkastellaan työajan järjestämistä EU:ssa ja siihen liittyviä kysymyksiä, mukaan lukien joustavat järjestelyt, työaikamieltymykset sekä työ- ja yksityiselämän tasapaino.

Euroopan työelämän seurantakeskus (EurWORK) tarjoaa tietoa työoloista ja kestävästä työstä, mukaan lukien tietokanta palkoista, työajasta ja kollektiivisista kiistoista. Eurofound on myös arvioinut sukupuolten työllisyyserojen taloudellisia ja yhteiskunnallisia kustannuksia, ja voi tarjota tietoja työpaikkojen luomisesta hoitopalvelujen alalla.

23. joulukuuta 2016 – Tässä Foundation Focus -julkaisussa tarkastellaan työ- ja yksityiselämän tasapainoa sekä seikkoja, jotka helpottavat tai haittaavat työelämän ja vapaa-ajan yhdistämistä. Siinä pohditaan, onko työ- ja yksityiselämän tasapainottamisella vielä merkitystä, kun keskimääräinen työaika on laskenut tasaisesti. Mitä hyötyä työaikadirektiivistä on, ja mikä on joustavaa työaikaa koskevien toimintalinjojen rooli? Millaista erityistukea tarvitsevat henkilöt, joilla on omaishoito- tai lastenhoitovelvoitteita? Työ- ja yksityiselämän tasapaino liittyy muihin elämänalueisiin, mukaan luettuna korkealaatuisten lastenhoitopalvelujen tarve, sukupuolten työllisyyseroja koskevat kysymykset ja mahdollisuuksien tarjoaminen ikääntyneille työntekijöille, jotka eivät voi jatkaa työskentelyä kokoaikaisesti.
