L’equilibrio vita-lavoro è una situazione in cui la vita professionale di un individuo e la sua vita privata si compensano in modo soddisfacente. Garantire un migliore equilibrio tra vita privata e professionale per i lavoratori durante tutto il corso della vita è un obiettivo politico dell’UE da molti anni in quanto è fondamentale per garantire che il lavoro sia sostenibile per tutti.

Il 26 aprile 2017, la Commissione ha lanciato il pilastro europeo dei diritti sociali, che comprende un’iniziativa a sostegno dell’equilibrio tra vita lavorativa e vita privata per genitori e prestatori di assistenza. L’iniziativa mira ad affrontare la rappresentazione iniqua delle donne nel mercato del lavoro e delinea una serie di norme minime, nuove o migliorate, per i congedi parentali, di paternità e di assistenza.

Raccolta di dati

Le indagini sulla qualità della vita in Europa (EQLS) di Eurofound contengono raffronti tra paesi sulla conciliazione tra lavoro e vita familiare, orari di lavoro flessibili e fornitura di servizi di assistenza di qualità. Le indagini sulle imprese europee (ECS) forniscono dati sul motivo e sul modo in cui le aziende ricorrono a un’ampia varietà di orari di lavoro. Le indagini europee sulle condizioni di lavoro (EWCS) esaminano la struttura dell’orario di lavoro in tutta l’UE e le questioni ivi connesse, comprese le organizzazioni flessibili, le preferenze in termini di orario di lavoro e l’equilibrio tra vita professionale e vita privata.

L’osservatorio europeo della vita professionale (EurWORK) contiene informazioni sulle condizioni di lavoro e il lavoro sostenibile, compresa una banca dati su salari, orario di lavoro e controversie sindacali. Eurofound ha anche stimato i costi economici e sociali del divario occupazionale di genere ed è in grado di erogare informazioni sulla creazione di posti di lavoro nei servizi di assistenza.

Come può aiutare la direttiva sull’orario di lavoro e quale ruolo hanno le politiche di orario di lavoro flessibile? Quali supporti specifici sono necessari per coloro che hanno compiti di assistenza nei confronti di bambini o adulti? L’equilibrio vita privata-professionale è connesso ad altri aspetti della vita, compresa la necessità di fornire un’assistenza di qualità all’infanzia, la necessità di colmare il divario occupazionale di genere e quella di provvedere ai lavoratori anziani che non possono continuare a lavorare a tempo pieno.
