Rovnováha medzi pracovným a súkromným životom predstavuje uspokojivý stav rovnováhy medzi časom, ktorý má jednotlivec vyhradený na prácu a na súkromné aktivity. Umožnenie väčšej rovnováhy medzi pracovným a súkromným životom pracovníkov počas celého života je cieľom politiky EÚ už mnoho rokov, keďže ide o kľúčový spôsob na zabezpečenie udržateľnosti práce pre všetkých.

Komisia 26. apríla 2017 vydala balík iniciatív k Európskemu pilieru sociálnych práv. Jeho súčasťou je aj iniciatíva na podporu rovnováhy medzi pracovným a súkromným životom pre rodičov a opatrovateľov. V rámci iniciatívy sa predkladá niekoľko nových alebo vylepšených minimálnych noriem týkajúcich sa rodičovskej, otcovskej alebo opatrovateľské dovolenky a jej cieľom je riešiť nedostatočné zastúpenie žien na trhu práce.

Zber údajov

Na základe Európskych prieskumov kvality života (EQLS) nadácie Eurofound je možné porovnanie zosúladenia pracovného a súkromného života, pružných foriem organizácie pracovného času a poskytovania kvalitných služieb starostlivosti v jednotlivých krajinách. Z Európskych prieskumov podnikov (ECS) vyplývajú údaje o tom, ako a prečo spoločnosti využívajú široké spektrum foriem organizácie pracovného času. V rámci Európskych prieskumov pracovných podmienok (EWCS) sa skúma organizácia pracovného času v rámci EÚ a otázky, ktoré s ňou súvisia, ako sú napríklad pružné formy organizácie, preferencie v oblasti pracovného času a rovnováha medzi pracovným a súkromným životom.

Európske monitorovacie centrum pracovného života (EurWORK) poskytuje informácie o pracovných podmienkach a udržateľnej práci vrátane databázy miezd, pracovného času a kolektívnych sporov. Nadácia Eurofound okrem toho odhadla aj hospodárske a spoločenské náklady spôsobené rozdielom v zamestnanosti mužov a žien a ponúka informácie o tvorbe pracovných miest v službách starostlivosti.

Súvisiace: Časopis Foundation Focus na tému riešení týkajúcich sa rovnováhy medzi pracovným a súkromným životom

23. decembra 2016 – V tomto vydaní časopisu Foundation Focus je témou rovnováha medzi pracovným a súkromným životom a niektoré ďalšie faktory, ktoré pomáhajú alebo bránia pracovníkom pri spájaní týchto dvoch aspektov. Keďže priemerná dĺžka pracovného času neustále klesá, črtá sa otázka, či rovnováhu medzi pracovným a súkromným životom ešte treba riešiť. Ako môže pomôcť smernica o pracovnom čase a akú úlohu majú politiky pružného pracovného času? Akú konkrétnu podporu si vyžadujú osoby so zodpovednosťou za starostlivosť o deti alebo dospelých? Rovnováha medzi pracovným a súkromným životom je spojená aj s iným aspektmi života vrátane potreby vysokokvalitnej starostlivosti o deti, riešenia rozdielov v zamestnanosti mužov a žien a zaopatrenia starších pracovníkov, ktorí nemôžu pokračovať v práci na plný pracovný čas.
