This initiative takes place in the context of Eurofound’s ongoing efforts to reach out to the national level and ensure widespread dissemination and dialogue with respect to its research findings.
Increasing levels of labour shortages in Europe are limiting production, service delivery, competitiveness as well as increasing work intensification in several sectors and causing growing concern for policymakers and companies in Member States across the EU. Eurofound has carried out extensive research around labour shortages and how to address them. This Virtual Visit to Germany looks at the measures to tackle labour shortages such as activation polices and addressing the mismatch between skills and jobs, drawing on examples from different regions, countries and companies. The question on how measures can be tailored to address different drivers of labour shortages is addressed. Particular attention is paid to the impact of job quality on labour shortages and measures to increase the attractiveness of specific sectors and occupations.
Eurofound experts have previously presented and shared evidence-based data on this topic at the Council of Minister meetings organised under the EU Presidencies, at the European Parliament, to the European Commission and at many other high-level events.
