Abstract
This case study is based on an analysis of Chiquita documents and papers of the IUF, COLSIBA (Latin American Coordinating Committee of Banana Workers’ Unions) and the Chiquita Agreement on ‘Freedom of association, minimum labour standards and employment in Latin American banana operations’ presented and discussed at a two-day research workshop. The Workshop, on ‘New instruments of social dialogue and agreement: An emerging cross-national industrial relations?’, was organised by the International Institute for Labour Studies (IILS) of the International Labour Organization on 15–16 December 2006.
